Slight Edge + Happy Habits = Success

Researcher, Shawn Achor, researcher, reaches a set of five things that, when done consistently for 3 weeks (21 days) will make a measurable, noticeable, significant change in your happiness. Here they are:

1) Each morning write down three things you are grateful for.

2) Journal for two minutes a day about one positive experience you have had over the past twenty-four hours.

3) Meditate daily

4) Do a random act of kindness over the course of each day.

5) Exercise for 15 minutes daily

According to Shawn if you do any one of these things faithfully for just three weeks, it will start to become a habit – a happy habit. You will have literally begun to rewire your brain to see the world in a different way, and as a result, to be happier on an everyday basis.

Interestingly you do not have to do all five at once. In face, Shawn recommends that you don’t even try to do that, but instead start with one and keep repeating it until it becomes a habit, then add another, and so on.

Here are some more happiness habits:

· Make more time for friends

· Practice savoring the moment

· Practice having a positive perspective

· Put more energy into cultivating your relationships

· Practice forgiveness

· Engage in meaningful activities

· Practice simple acts of giving

· Read at least ten pages of a good book daily.
